About The Ruby Twist Pro

The Ruby Twist Pro is a high-powered ball vaporizer designed for use with dry herbs that gets its name from its ruby-filled heating chamber and its unique spiraling airflow. The Ruby Twist heater is packed with around 230 gem-cut rubies which act as a thermal reservoir so that your draw converts the cool air through the hot gems into an instant blast of super-headed air, producing huge clouds and extremely potent and flavorful vapor. Take a draw immediately for pure convection heating or allow the coil assembly to heat-soak for heavier hits and more robust vapor.

What makes the Ruby Twist Pro the Pro?

The new Pro model of the original Crossing Tech Ruby Twist now includes an upgraded micro hybrid titanium matrix injector, a handcrafted wooden handle in your choice of wood (an option that is unique to VGoodiEZ), and a thick heat guard for safer handling.

The new machined screens and extra balls that are included with the Ruby Twist bowl also allow for the twist core to be removed and replaced with a single 1.5mm machined screen to fit an extra 100 rubies, converting the Ruby Twist into a straight airflow style diffuser that many prefer over the original twist.

What do I need to use The Ruby Twist Pro?

The Ruby Twist Pro kit comes with just about everything that you need to get started with your new ball vaporizer, however, you’ll need to pair this with a glass water piece to hold the bowl and act as your mouthpiece.

Once you’ve become accustomed to using your Ruby Twist you may also want to consider other bowl options. We’ve listed all of the bowls that are compatible with the Ruby Twist Pro together for extra EZ shopping.

How to use the Ruby Twist Pro?

We have an unboxing and startup guide here. Please note that this blog and video were created prior to the inclusion of the micro hybrid titanium matrix bowl and some parts may differ slightly from your own kit.

Plug the heater coil into the PID controller and plug the PID into the wall outlet. (May not be compatible with GFCI outlets)

Place the heater onto the provided coil stand. (Never rest the hot coil assembly directly on the glass piece or a flammable surface.)

Turn on the PID and set it to your preferred temperature and wait a few minutes for it to heat.

Load the bowl using the provided scoop, packing loosely enough for air to properly pass through the herb. Do not overpack.

Place the bowl securely on your glass water piece and then place the hot Ruby Twist heater onto the top of the bowl to heat the material.

Inhale slowly and steadily through the mouthpiece of your glass water piece.

When you are finished, lift the heater off of the bowl and place it back onto the metal stand.

For thicker clouds you may want to rest the heater on the bowl for 15-30 seconds before taking a draw.

Wipe the outside of the heater and clean your glass bowls regularly to help your Ruby Twist stay fresh and last longer.

Important Information about the Ruby Twist Pro

Do not leave the housing head in the glass bowl to heat up. As it heats the metal and glass expand and the housing can become stuck in the glass which can cause it to break.

Always use the provided stand for storage. Do not store the housing installed on the bowl as over time, this can damage the bowl.

Please note that the temperature for this 110V kit is set to Fahrenheit by default

Please ensure that the hex bolt on top of the housing is tight and secure. These can loosen during shipping.

The PID controller may or may not work on GFCI outlets.

When removing, pull the Chamber Glass Replacement straight downward, not at an angle. You may find it helpful to remove directly after a session while the Titanium Hybrid Matrix Bowl is still warm. If having difficulties, perform an ISO shake until all debris is removed, rinse with warm water until clean, and air dry before use.

The Ruby Twist Kit comes with everything you need to get started except for a glass water piece. Our Pro Kit differs from the standard kit by including updated versions of the Micro Titanium Matrix Bowl, Thermal Twist Injector Core, and 20mm coil. Both kits include 14mm and 18mm joints for wide compatibility with different glass pieces.

For those on the fence...

If you're thinking about switching to a ball vape and have your eyes on this, just do it. It's as good as you're hoping it'll be. I've since tried other, pricier ball vapes, and while they're also excellent, you're not missing anything with a Ruby Twist. It's right up there with the big dogs, just comes down to individual wants/needs at that point.

Since the day mine arrived, I have not smoked a single bowl. There was no transition, no real learning curve, I've still never accidently combusted, it just works. Follow the instructions for the first heat cycle, then go to town. I started around 500 and worked my way up til I settled on 580 as a sweet spot for one hit extractions. It's just like the bong hit you're used to, except better.

I've heard the analogy "it's like dabbing flower." It's a pretty good description. It's definitely herb, the flavors are crazy, but it hits more like a concentrate. The terps can still make you cough, but the cough doesn't hang around. Unless I chief down 3 or 4 bowls back to back, I really don't cough at all. Obviously we need research before we can say anything definitive, but anecdotally, I feel like my lungs are happier since I stopped smoking every day.

I paired the RT with an Orb I already had, and made myself a $0 debowler from an old pill bottle and a piece of wire (copper was proof of concept, since replaced with 14 AWG stainless for safety). Decided I like vaping through the Orb better without water, so I filled it with glass aquarium gravel just high enough to cover the perc for some mild cooling/diffusion and for weight to keep the piece stable. It makes the vapor swirl around too, looks cool, especially under colored lights.

(protip, 1/2" ID x 5/8" OD silicone tubing will stretch over a 14mm female joint, lick it or drip some water on it first. Not the most professional looking thing, but there's no flow restriction from whip adapters. You can stick a hookah mouthpiece on the end for something a little fancier.)

I intentionally didn't clean it before taking the pic to show how much cleaner vaping is. That's after a weekend of steady toking a bowl or two every hour.

Which brings me to the second best thing about ball vapes, the reduced herb consumption. It cannot be overstated how much less flower you will use with this thing compared to smoking. For the first time in my life, I have a collection of jarred strains available to choose from rather than just smoking my stash and re-upping. I've been a fairly steady oz/week kinda guy for years. Now that I'm vaping, a zip will last me a couple months. I still smoke Js sometimes, but not very often tbh, because it's so appalling how much flower I gotta grind to fill a king size slim. I could burn through an 8th in two joints; now an 8th can last me a week.

You might think it comes with a tiny bowl, that you'll want the big bowl right away. Hold off. I mean get it if you want, it's a different kind of hit, but you don't need the increased capacity, I promise. You're gonna be surprised by the kind of hits you get with one tiny little scoop. I push the screen down just a little bit, like 1-2mm below the edge; I can fit 2 mini-scoops in there, and it's borderline too much to clear in one hit. Most of the time I just do 1 good scoop and hit it like a snapper; smooth, no cough, straight to the dome.

That's why you shouldn't wait to pull the trigger on this. The money you will save in flower alone will pay for this thing immediately when you get to skip your next two or three re-ups.
